Disco is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes what information the Disco app and website collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Disco is only for people aged 18 and over.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: Your name, username, email address, phone number, date of birth (to confirm you are 18 or older), and password, or the basic profile details from Google or Apple if you sign in with them.
  • Profile information: Your photo, bio, favorite teams and any other details you add to your profile.
  • Content you create: Check-ins, posts, comments, crews you create or join, people you follow, and reports you send us.
  • Photos: Images you choose to upload, such as a profile photo. Disco only accesses the photos you pick.
  • Support messages: Messages you send to our support team or to our in-app support assistant.

Location information

  • Precise and approximate location: With your permission, Disco collects your device's location to show you the map and venues near you, to confirm a check-in when you are at a venue, and to share your location with the people you choose.
  • Location in the background: Only if you turn on Arrival reminders or live location sharing, Disco collects your location while the app is closed or not in use. Arrival reminders use it to notice when you arrive at a venue and send you a notification asking if you want to check in. Disco never checks you in on its own. Live location sharing uses it to keep your position up to date for the friends or crews you picked. On Android a notification is shown while this is running. Both are off by default.
  • Approximate location from your IP address: We estimate your general region from your IP address to keep accounts secure (for example, to show where a sign-in came from) and to check that Disco is available where you are.
  • Who can see your location: Only the people you choose. You decide whether your followers, your crews or specific people see your live location. Ghost Mode hides you from everyone.

Contacts

  • If you choose to find friends from your contacts, Disco reads the phone numbers and email addresses in your address book to find people you know who already use Disco. They are matched in hashed form, and we keep only the matches with existing Disco users. You can remove your contacts from Disco at any time in Settings.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: How you use Disco, such as screens visited, buttons tapped and features used.
  • Search data: What you search for in the app, such as venues, places, teams and people, and the results you open.
  • Device information: Device model, operating system, app version, device identifiers and push notification tokens, used to run your sessions, send notifications and keep your account secure.
  • Crash and performance data: Crash reports and diagnostics that help us find and fix problems.
  • Cookies: On our website, cookies and similar technologies for preferences and analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide Disco's features, including the map, check-ins, crews, following, location sharing and arrival reminders.
  • Show you venues, people and activity that are relevant to where you are and what you follow.
  • Confirm you are 18 or older and keep your account secure, including detecting fraud and abuse.
  • Send you notifications and emails about your account, your crews and activity you have asked to hear about.
  • Respond to support requests and reports, and enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
  • Understand how Disco is used so we can fix problems and improve it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your location for third-party advertising.

3. Data Sharing

We share information only in these cases:

  • People you choose: Your profile, check-ins and posts are visible to others according to your privacy settings. Your live location is shared only with the people you pick.
  • Venues and organizations: Aggregated statistics that do not identify you, such as how many check-ins a venue had.
  • Service providers: Companies that run parts of Disco for us under contracts that limit how they can use your data. They include cloud hosting and email delivery, maps and place search (such as Mapbox and Google), crash reporting, push notification services from Apple and Google, sign-in with Google and Apple, and the AI provider behind our in-app support assistant.
  • Legal authorities: When required by law, to respond to legal process, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Disco, our users or the public.
  • Business transfers: If Disco is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal.

4. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it to run Disco, to meet legal obligations, or to resolve disputes:

  • Account and profile information: For as long as your account is active.
  • Location history: Up to 5 years, then deleted automatically.
  • Check-ins: Up to 12 months.
  • Usage data: Up to 12 months.
  • Support assistant conversations: Up to 90 days.

When you delete your account, it is locked and hidden straight away. After a 30-day window in which you can restore it, your profile, check-ins, location history, contacts matches and content are permanently deleted, except for anything we are legally required to keep.

5. Your Rights and Choices

You can:

  • Control location: Turn location permission on or off in your device settings, turn Arrival reminders and location sharing off at any time, or use Ghost Mode to hide from everyone.
  • Remove contacts: Remove your contacts from Disco in Settings at any time.
  • Access and download the information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information in your profile or by contacting us.
  • Delete your account in the app under Settings, Delete account, or by following the steps at godisco.app/legal/delete-account.
  • Control notifications in the app and in your device settings.

California residents have additional rights, described in our California Privacy Notice.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures, such as encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

Disco is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we remove accounts we find belong to someone under 18.

8. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
